And not just building a list in general…

But building a QUALIFIED list.

In order to build a qualified list…

You have to actually have lead qualification in place…

And in order to have proper lead qualification in place…

You need to have a really deep understanding of your customer avatar…

And the predictable milestones on that journey…

Along with the challenges and solutions to those challenges that precede each milestone.

List building is a great opportunity to qualify your prospect while educating them…

I’m not a big fan of traditional “lead magnets” like free downloads in exchange for an email address…

With the hope that you can sell them on something now that you can follow-up with them via email.

I don’t think that starts off in a power frame…

As opposed to that person signing up for your list inside of a clear context…

That they are joining the list because they are interested in the information, programs, products and services you provide…

And they want to continue to hear more about them.

In the process of completing the quiz or readiness assessment or application process that my list comes in the form of…

My prospects are asked deep dive questions that spark true reflection…

And have them consider things newly, or in some cases for the first time…

That are unexpected and challenging, but incredibly useful.

This has my brands stand out like a sore thumb…

In a marketplace where everyone is desperately trying to make things as fast and simple for the consumer as humanly possible.

I want my forms to be pattern interrupts…

Just as engaging and informative as they are functional for collecting the information I need in order to properly segment my list.
